We designed our 3M™ AC-730 Aviation Sealant specifically for fuselage and fuselage applications. This is where the product works best, with many advantages and benefits compared to traditional sealing adhesives. First, it is an anti-corrosion product, but is chromate-free, which greatly helps meet chromate reduction directives or OSHA requirements. AC-730 remains flexible and extremely strong on aluminum and between imperfectly fitted metals – under extreme temperatures, environmental conditions and under pressure. It was designed to be easily processed and is characterized by outstanding resistance to aviation fuel (especially for jet engines), chemicals and petroleum derivatives, i.e. substances commonly used in the aviation industry. Class Differences: 3M™ AC-730 Class B Aviation Sealant is a two-component, thixotropic paste. AC-730 Class B remains flexible throughout its lifespan. It can be easily applied by squeezing from a cartridge or using a gun or spatula and is phenomenally mechanically processable. Our Class B version has no additional solvents, which minimizes shrinkage, which in turn almost eliminates the need for rework and streamlines the machining process. 3M™ AC-730 Class C Aviation Sealant is a liquid product designed for rebated surfaces that can be applied with a trowel, brush, roller or gun. It remains flexible and bonds metals extremely strongly – even under extreme temperatures, environmental conditions and pressure. Applications: Seals the contact surfaces of joined parts. Seals joints, preventing liquid or air from entering. Prevents corrosion and channel leaks. The non-chromated anti-corrosion formula affects the degree of compliance with the directives regarding the reduction of chromate occurrence. Easier to use – shorter mixing time and less complicated application. Available in Class B and Class C versions to meet individual and specific requirements and specifications. Low shrinkage results in less need for corrections. Maintains elasticity and bonding strength under pressure and in a wide temperature range.
